How a dental trip to Mexico works

Last reviewed: September 2026

Step 1 — Send your case

Before you travel, share what you need and any recent X-rays or a panoramic scan. Clinics build a preliminary plan and quote from this. It won't be final — they confirm after an in-person exam or their own imaging — but it should be close.

Step 2 — Compare written quotes

A proper treatment plan lists:

Get this from two or three clinics and compare line by line. The cheapest headline number is often not the cheapest finished result.

Step 3 — The trip(s)

ProcedureVisitsTime per visitNotes
Cleaning, checkup, fillings11–2 daysEasy add-on to any trip
Crown / bridge12–4 daysSame-day possible with in-house CAD/CAM
Root canal + crown13–5 daysOften done together
Veneers (6–10)17–10 daysPrep, then bond about a week later
Single implant22–4 days, then 3–5 days3–6 months healing between
All-on-4 / All-on-625–7 days, then 3–5 daysTemporary arch same day; permanent after healing
Full denture15–7 daysMultiple fittings within the stay

The two-trip implant timeline

  1. Trip 1: consultation, 3D scan, extractions if needed, implant placement, sometimes a bone graft. You leave with a temporary or a healing cap.
  2. Heal: 3–6 months for the implant to fuse with the bone (osseointegration). You're home, living normally.
  3. Trip 2: impressions and fitting of the final crown or bridge. Shorter and simpler than trip 1.

Alternative: have trip 1 in Mexico for the surgery (the big saving), then have the crown made by a dentist at home. Discuss this with both dentists first so the parts are compatible.

Step 4 — Home & follow-up

Bring home every record. See your regular dentist for a check within a few weeks. Keep the warranty terms somewhere you can find them.
